Gosh Garrett, I hope both women win, they seem like good people! I'd donate but I'm very poor, so poor I can barely afford your subscription lol, but it's
well worth it!
Very curious. Why park halfway up the farm driveway? So the inhabitants can see you walking and take your measure?
Good vibes go a long way, even when money can't. As for the "why park halfway up the drive?" question, you nailed it (well, I can't confirm the cooties part, but all your other answers lol).
I wondered this as well & if I should note this for door knocking in our next municipal election. I also hope they’re not door knocking alone? I did not do this on our rural roads even though I know a lot of people in our small town - I don’t know everyone and after a weird interaction with someone else I decided I wouldn’t want that kind of encounter on my own.
Thanks for featuring my future state assembly representative, Emily Tseffos! Her opponent Dave Murphy has only made himself available to constituents locally at Tea Party meetings held in the John Birch Society building. He refuses to return phone calls or respond to letters and consistently votes against his constituents best interests. Vote for Emily!
Your “every four years” line put me in mind (as most things do now, TBH) of a David Graeber line:
“Americans pride themselves on being a democratic society, but if you ask the average American “When was the last time you were part of a group of more than five people who made a collective decision on a more or less equal basis?” most will just scratch their heads. Maybe when ordering a pizza. Or deciding what movie to go to. But otherwise basically never.”
Another time he put it more succinctly: “Americans are good at communism but bad at democracy.”
These two candidates are clearly NOT bad at democracy! It’s left me feeling, as they say, “fired up and ready to go” (at a steady pace, for the long haul)
This is so moving! Thanks for highlighting these amazing candidates 💖
I’m working with Ruth Caves next door in Wisconsin’s rural, red 57th, and all of this rings so true. It’s inspiring to see the work these women do every year in our communities against great odds, with little attention or support from state or national Dems, just standing up for what’s right and doing what they can for their neighbors. When Harris and Tammy win, they’ll owe it to these women 💪
Also want to shout out Chris Gordon doing it in the 39th! And Francesca Hong pulling for Assembly candidates all over the state! And Rebecca Cooke for Congress! This post has me feeling proud of Wisconsin women!

A privacy or safety issue? Cooties?

You and everybody in the 56th deserve to have real representation for a change!
Turning out the vote is the key to flipping this district!

That's a really, really good Graeber line

Thank you!! Both for elevating these candidates and for all the time you've put into their campaigns!
Gah I'm so glad to see you supporting these lovely candidates - especially Emily who is so amazing at every level. ❤️
Thanks so much for being the first person to introduce me to Emily's amazingness, Courtney!
